Obadiah 1:17 (KJV)
17 But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
Many of us believe in the power of God and trusting that The Lord will come through for us. We are to be the head and also to inherit the earth. There are many people in various churches praying day and night asking God to make them possess their inheritance. But there are processes we must go through to enable us possess our possessions.
Obadiah 1:17, details the very basic processes we must pass through to arrive at the possessions.
Mount Zion
Mount Zion is geographical location.
A physical place where The Presence of God dwells: Church, mountain, house of Prayer, a prayer centre, etc.
Mount Zion is a personality.
A man or woman whom God has lifted and blessed. And the presence of God dwells with the man. Your life is affected positively when you get close to such a person. You are lifted spiritually, and you begin experiencing the presence of God when you get close to these personalities. Examples of such personalities are Archbishop Duncan Williams of Ghana, Dr. Mensah Otabil of Ghana and TD Jakes of the USA.
Mount Zion is an institution.
An organization or institution that has a set of sound doctrines that allows individuals and institutions to grow and be what God wants them to be.
The institution for example the church, universities and organisations that teach sound biblical doctrines.
They teach biblical doctrines and some award certificate for individual who go through their programs. They also organize training programs for corporate bodies on order to establish the presence of God
Deliverance
This is an: action of setting free” in physical or spiritual senses.
To be rescued
We were rescued with the blood of Jesus on the cross of Calvary.
Ephesians 1:7
For by the blood of Christ we are set free, that is, our sins are forgiven. How great is the grace of God
Mathew 12:43-45 (NKJV)
43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.
We must understand that as we come to Christ, we must allow ourselves to be delivered from wrong mindsets and negativity. We must first accept Christ and begin to work out our salvation. Our mind can become a strong hold if we don’t conform to the things of God.
Romans 12v2 (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
In the scripture above, the devil will not leave us completely. He will keep gong and coming all the time. We must master the art of enforcing our victory over him. Don’t forget, after failing to make Jesus sin after Jesus’ 40 days fasting, the Bible says he left Jesus for a season or for a while.
Deliverance also means we must avoid sinning and leave a pure life which takes us to the next point.
Holiness
Deut 14:2 (NKJV)
For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
- holiness is purity of heart or dispositions; sanctified affections; piety; moral goodness, but not perfect.
- Sacredness; the state of any thing hallowed, or consecrated to God or to his worship; applied to churches or temples
- That which is separated to the service of God.
God expects us to set ourselves apart for His kingdom. If we are to enjoy the blessings of the kingdom, then we must obey the principles of the kingdom
Summary of the Zion, Deliverance and Holiness
So, you see, you must first be located at Mount Zion where you receive Christ and repent from your sins. Your continuous presence in the presence of God will allow you to be delivered. Your grow up in the fear of the Lord and holiness. The more you stay in the presence of God the more your holiness level increases. At this level you are now prepared to start taking your possessions.
The House of Jacob
The house of Jacob means all the descendants of Jacob. God is referring to the original agenda He has with Israel. Sometimes God calls Israel Jacob and vice versa. God always reminds Jacob of His original plan for him. As we get closer to God, he opens up our mind to the original plan He has for us.
Child of God don’t allow anyone to tell you you are nobody. That is a lie from the pit of hell. God has plans for you before you were born. You submit to him and work hard; eventually you will get there.
Possessions
Possessions are properties of all kinds. Physical and unseen. As far as the kingdom of God is concerned, possessions include blessings, and the blessings are the spoken words and the promises of God. Possessions which are also inheritance is transferrable from one generation to the other. This explains why the Blessings of God to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 is available to anyone who connects to the God of Abraham
Now the Lord had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
As I said from the introduction,
Taking whatever God has mandated you to take in the land of the living is a process and not an overnight process. The basis of possession is Christ and Christ alone. Nothing else. The only way to possess your inheritance in Christ purely based on Christ. He alone is the way. God bless you.
Prayer to accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour
Lord Jesus, thank you for dyeing for me. From right now, I take you as my Lord and personal Saviour. Come into my life. Forgive me my sins and write my name in the book of life. Thank you in the name of Jesus my Lord and Saviour.

- Lord, please lead me through the right process to take over my inheritance.
