Bring me back a Word

Genesis 37:12-17 (NKJV)

12 Then his brothers went to feed their father’s flock in Shechem. 13 And Israel said to Joseph, “Are not your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, I will send you to them.” So he said to him, “Here I am.” 14 Then he said to him, “Please go and see if it is well with your brothers and well with the flocks, and bring back word to me.” So he sent him out of the Valley of Hebron, and he went to Shechem. 15 Now a certain man found him, and there he was, wandering in the field. And the man asked him, saying, “What are you seeking?” 16 So he said, “I am seeking my brothers. Please tell me where they are feeding their flocks.” 17 And the man said, “They have departed from here, for I heard them say, ‘Let us go to Dothan.’ ” So Joseph went after his brothers and found them in Dothan.

We all wake up every morning by the grace of God in pursuit of different goals. It is our expectation that at the end of the day we will bring some tangible results home.

It is the goals we have that pushes us to the extreme or otherwise. It is worth noting that the devil has no business with those who are going no where or have no destination in mind.

You will see shortly the two (2) main reasons why we go out in our daily pursuit.

Jacob’s Instructions to Josep

The verse 14 of the above scripture reads:

Then he said to him, “Please go and see if it is well with your brothers and well with the flocks and bring back word to me.” So, he sent him out of the Valley of Hebron, and he went to Shechem.

See if it is well with your brothers.

To see if is well with your brothers has to do with wellbeing of our family members. At the end of everyday struggle, we are expected to bring bread home. It is the bread that gives evidence that the day was successful.

In the case of husbands and fathers they are described as unbelievers if they are unable to provide for their families – 1 Timothy 5v18 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

It is based on this word that we trust the Lord to bring works of our hands to be established when we go out to look for bread for families.

I pray the good Lord prospers you and make efforts to produce bread for your family. May He cause you to bring a good word back home in Jesus name.

See if it is well with your flocks.

The flocks here represent investment of different kinds. Jacob was concerned about the family’s investment which Joseph’s brothers were taking care of. He wanted a word back from them to be sure the investment was doing well.

As with point 1 above, whatever we are investing and keeping for the future, our expectation is to see it grow into the overflow where we can bless people beyond our families.

There are so many wickedness all around us but I pray that you receive a good word concerning your investment.

Your investment shall not go down. It shall do well. May God bless you and bless your investment in Jesus’ name.

Destiny in bringing back a word.

Genesis 37v17-18(NKJV)

17Then Jesse said to his son David, “Take now for your brothers an ephah of this dried grain and these ten loaves, and run to your brothers at the camp. 18 And carry these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand, and see how your brothers fare, and bring back news of them.

The ‘news” you see in verse 18 is the word Jesse was expecting to receive from David when he goes to visit his brothers.

David has to encounter his destiny when he obeyed his father to pursuit a word. Let us trust God that when we go out to pursue a word we will have a positive encounter that will bring turn around to our lives. The rest of the story of David shows the victory he had. May God give you victor as you pursue your word for the month and for the years ahead.

A word to Herod

Mathew 2v7-8

Then Herod, when he had secretly called the [b]wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also.

We see here Herod determined to destroy Baby Jesus by asking the wise men to bring him a word when they see Jesus. If Herod had received the word, there would have been more consequences. Thousands of destinies were lost simply because he did not receive any word from the wise men. God protected Baby Jesus from claws of Herod.

On your way to pursue the word that would turn your life around, God arranges men and angels to assist and protect you. May any Herod demanding a word form you evil intentions be destroyed right now in Jesus name. Amen.
